JOB SUMMARY: Gather, prepare, and broadcast local and state news, weather, and sports for AVC Communicationsâ six radio stations. Maintain hard news and community news sections of AVC Communications website, YourRadioPlace.com. Maintain AVC News social media outlets, including Facebook and Twitter. Must be 110% reliable and have a strong sense of responsibility. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to write short, tight copy, adlib well, anchor short form newscasts or long form event coverage when necessary, interact with talk show hosts and news anchors live, and understand news coverage in the digital/social media age.
Required Skills: Strong conversational writing and delivery skills a must plus the desire to chase breaking news in person or by phone. Successful candidate will enterprise story ideas, do live field reporting, and prepare and anchor newscasts for AVC News. Must also be a multi-tasker with the ability to handle desk/editor duties. Strong emphasis on news in the digital space, including social media. That includes creating and posting digital content for Facebook, Twitter, and web for our stations.
Required Experience: Familiarity with digital audio editing tools, outstanding communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment a must. Candidate must be willing to be on-call and work other shifts as needed. Great opportunity at a local radio station group.
