GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio â€“ Authorities say a teenaged girl was killed in a dirt bike accident in Guernsey County over the weekend.
According to Sheriff Mike McCauley, 14-year-old Rachel Drotovick of Cambridge was operating a dirt bike on private property just off of Plainfield Road in Kimbolton at around 4:00 p.m. Sunday when she lost control of the bike and careened into a tree. Drotovick was thrown from the bike and received life-threatening injuries. A passenger that was riding with Drotovick was reportedly unharmed.
Reports indicate that members of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department immediately responded to the scene and began to perform CPR. Drotovick was transported to Southeastern Med in Cambridge, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Deputies reported that Drotovick was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. The nature of her injuries has not been released.
