MARIETTA, Ohio â Former state Rep. Jennifer Garrison announced her bid Tuesday morning against U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson in Ohioâs 6th Congressional District.
Garrison, a Democrat, previously served in the Ohio House from 2005 to 2011, representing the 93rd District, which included Noble, Monroe, Guernsey and parts of Washington and Muskingum counties.
After retiring from the Ohio Legislature and dropping a bid to run for Ohio secretary of state, Garrison started the Southeastern Ohio Landowners Association, which has helped landowners negotiate bonus payments on their oil and shale gas leases throughout the region.
Garrison appeared at two events on Tuesday morning: one at the Lafayette Hotel in Marietta and the other at the Hampton Inn in Canfield.
The 6th Congressional District includes all or parts of Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mahoning, Meigs, Monroe, Muskingum, Noble, Scioto, Tuscarawas and Washington counties.
