WOODSFIELD, Ohio -- The Switzerland of Ohio Schools have named an interim superintendent as their search for a new district head continues.
Dr. Dan Doyle, who recently retired as superintendent of the Noble Local School District, agreed at Thursday's Board of Education meeting to take on the position. The Board indicated Dr. Doyle would serve as interim superintendent for only two-to-four weeks.
Dr. Doyle said that, when he took the helm at Noble Local 12 years ago, district officials told him the hardships that going without a superintendent, even for a short time, can impose. He stated, "I am definitely willing to help anyone out of a bad situation."
Larry Elliott resigned as superintendent last month. The move came as the District wrestles with major funding cuts and attempts to pass a five-year, $3 million-a-year emergency levy in November.
The Board announced that there will be a special meeting on Wednesday, August 21 at 8:00 a.m. It will be open to the public.
