Associated Press

The Associated Press is the essential global news network, delivering accurate, insightful news from every corner of the world, 24 hours a day. Since its founding in 1846, AP has been the first to report many of history’s most important moments, and every day, AP journalists, photographers and videographers file news from the front lines of the world's biggest stories.

AP’s reporting, photography, audio and video are published and broadcast by the world’s leading newspapers, TV channels, apps, radio stations, websites and magazines—in fact, over half the world’s population sees AP news content on any given day.

As a leader in the field of journalism, AP fights for freedom of the press and the public’s right to know. Its reporters take great risks to file in-depth stories from countries where the press is otherwise restrained, and in the U.S., AP aggressively uses the Freedom of Information Act to advocate for transparency and accountability in government.

With more experience reporting and delivering news than any other agency, a well-earned reputation for independence and accuracy, and a fierce commitment to the people’s right to know, AP is the definitive source for trusted news.

Indians set Club Record by Winning 14 Straight

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals had no intention of playing 14 innings without celebrating a victory.
Ben Revere doubled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 14th, and the Nationals outlasted the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on Friday night for their sixth straight victory.
Ten pitchers participated in the game, which lasted 4 hours, 30 minutes.
Revere’s liner off the wall in right-center against Ross Ohlendorf (5-6) scored Danny Espinosa, who was hit by a pitch to start the inning.
Yusmeiro Petit (3-1), the sixth Washington pitcher, worked two innings for the win.
The last-place Reds have lost five straight and nine of 10. Cincinnati stayed with the NL East leaders for inning after inning, but simply couldn’t come up with the big hit.
The Reds face the Nationals today at 3:35 p.m on ESPN Cambridge FM 107.9 and AM 1270.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Jody Mercer homered and had an RBI single and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied from three runs down to beat stumbling ace Sonny Gray and the Oakland Athletics 7-3 on Friday night.
Matt Joyce added two hits, Josh Harrison drove in two runs while Andrew McCutcheon doubled and scored on a wild pitch to help the Pirates to their first win in their history at the Coliseum and just their second in 13 games between the two franchises.
They did it by taking advantage of another shaky outing by Gray (3-7).
He gave up seven runs, hit a batter and threw two wild pitches in six innings while losing his sixth consecutive decision. The right-hander, third in the 2015 AL Cy Young voting, is winless since April 22.
Marcus Semien hit his 17th home run of the season for Oakland.
Pirates starter Jeff Locke (8-5) also struggled early but retired the final nine batters he faced to win his third straight.
